This attractive, brightly coloured sponge is very soft and does not leave streaks, imperfections or stains when applying foundation. As mentioned above, however, it is very important to take care of it and clean it properly, both for hygienic reasons and to be able to reuse it with cosmetics of different shades without ruining the make-up base. Precisely for these reasons, both to remove any make-up residue and to avoid the formation of bacteria, it should be washed after each application: let's see how.

1. Wetting. First, wet the sponge thoroughly with lukewarm water.
2. Lather up. Then lather up the beauty blender using any cleanser, as long as it is mild, pH-neutral and therefore free of certain acids that could damage the material (such as salicylic acid or glycolic acid, which are generally found in exfoliating cleansers used to clean oily skin). Carefully massage the sponge until the make-up has completely dissolved and, if necessary, repeat the action several times.
3. Dry. Finally, after each wash it is essential to wring out the beauty blender and leave it to dry in the open air, without placing it in plastic containers or bags that could contribute to the growth of bacteria.

When to change the sponge

All this care and maintenance will give your beauty blender a much longer life. However, after about 4 to 6 months it is still a good idea to change the product. The sponge may start to emit unpleasant odours or may have stains - clear signs that it's time to replace it.
