Why should make-up brushes be cleaned?

Whether used occasionally, once a week or several times a day, professional make-up brushes should be treated with care to maintain their optimum performance. In addition, frequent cleaning can reduce or even completely eliminate the risk of irritation and bacteria that can build up between the bristles. This is why it is a good idea to remove traces of make-up and clean make-up brushes regularly.

When and how to clean make-up brushes

The best way to preserve the quality of your professional make-up brushesfor a long time is to clean them after each use. We recommend washing your brushes by pouring household alcohol on a cloth and carefully rubbing the bristles until they are completely free of make-up. In this way, you will be able to sanitise and reuse your brush in a short time.

If, on the other hand, you use your brushes several times a day, you can carry out a daily cleaning after each use and a deepercleaningevery 3 or 4 days to keep them looking their best.
For a deep cleaning you can wash your brushes with warm water and a little shampoo, or with a neutral soap, rubbing the bristles lightly on the palm of your hand. You will see the colour that has built up inside them gradually release.

Always remember to pay attention to the handle of the brush during the cleaning phase, avoiding dipping it in water to avoid damaging the surface.

When you have finished this step, repeat if necessary and let the brush air dry, without "stressing" it further with a hair dryer or towel.

If your brush has lost its original shape, you can restore its silhouette with a gentle re-shaping: use neutral soap and reposition the bristles by gently pressing them together with your fingers. Let the brush dry without rinsing for a few days and wash it gently once it has regained its original shape.
